Now that it's June, we're finally through the first half of 2014. Even though dozens of crazy video parts have dropped this year, I'm documenting the 5 parts that stoked me the most & had me the most hype about seeing.
5. Trevor Colden for Skate Mental
Trevor Colden burst onto the scene this year after finally turning pro for Skate Mental. Since he's put out multiple videos and even did fairly well at Tampa Pro & Street League, especially considering he's was up against some of the most seasoned skaters.
4. Youness Amrani - "Almost A Part"
You're already familiar with this video because there's a post on it by me. Youness, another newly turned pro drops this part for his board sponsor Almost, showcasing crazy techness & eleborate lines that mixed up lots of different tricks. Expect more gnarliness from this guy in the future.
3. Donovon Piscopo - Nike SB Chronicles 2
It's hard to have a part that will stand out when you guys like Luan Oliveira, Shane O'neill, & Ishod Wair have parts of that same video. Donovon Piscopo manages to do just that. Because of his fast speed & unique selection of tricks I actually ended up preferring his part over the other powerhouses that I mentioned before. His tricks are different, but they still have a tech feel to them that you would expect from anyone on Nike.
2. Mark Suciu - Search The Horizon
I spent thirty minutes deciding whether this or Tom Asta's part would be #1. This part is really, really good and I think it's what street skateboarding truly represents. Suciu is ought skating ledges, rails, banks & everything else in-between. All the while making it look amazing. He shows that you can be one of the best without giving off that "I train 8 months a year to be the best" vibe.
1. Tom Asta Pro Spotlight video.
"Wow". The first thing I said when I first saw this video. The techness is just un-real. Crazy tricks on ledges, rails, gaps, whatever you can name. Not to mention every other trick was done switch, and so clean to the point of where I couldn't remember whether he was regular or goofy. There were a ton of tricks I've never seen in this video, my favorite being the switch heel back smith because it just again shows how he has hard tricks in both stances.
These are my 5 favorite video parts so far. All of these skaters are young, hungry, & have the potential to be legends in the future. Keep on eye out on these guys and expect another Video of the year segment in December.
